❓ What is the difference between CPCS and NPORS?

CPCS and NPORS are both recognised plant operator accreditation schemes. CPCS is widely used on major construction sites, while NPORS offers more flexible routes that may be suitable for certain employers or site requirements. Advice can be given on the schemes, and which is best for you and the company.

❓ Is CPCS or NPORS better for my site?

It depends on site rules, client requirements and your experience. Some sites insist on CPCS, while others accept NPORS or NPORS with CSCS.

❓ What is an NVQ and when do I need one?

An NVQ is a vocational qualification that demonstrates competence in a specific role. It is often required alongside CPCS or NPORS for blue or gold CSCS cards and supervisory roles. NVQ assessment is available where required.

❓ Can NVQ assessment be completed on site?

Yes. NVQ assessment is typically carried out on site while you are working, allowing evidence to be gathered naturally as part of your role, subject to assessment criteria and Standards required from the awarding body.

Yes. NVQ assessment routes are designed for operators working towards the fully qualified competence blue card.
